Why do I fundraise for the Junior League of Birmingham? Fundraising is essential to advancing the Junior League of Birmingham’s mission which is dedicated to women’s leadership and development as well as serving and supporting our local community. Financial support enables the Junior League to provide meaningful programs, mentorship opportunities, and skill-building workshops that empower women to grow as confident leaders. It also sustains outreach efforts that strengthen communities, foster collaboration, and create pathways for long-term social and economic progress. By investing in fundraising for the Junior League of Birmingham, supporters help expand opportunities for women to lead, inspire change, and build stronger, more resilient communities for future generations.

Why do I fundraise for the Junior League of Birmingham? I fundraise for the Junior League, and particularly for this cause, because I am so impressed by how methodical and judicious the Junior League is with our funds. When Julia Myers came to discuss the effort that she had led through the Junior League to put up signage bringing awareness to human trafficking across our city and then across Alabama, I was impressed, but I had chills when she described the Sunshine Center. As a pediatric resident, I saw firsthand the poor abandoned children who came to our local hospital and had nowhere to go. I am new back to Birmingham, but The Sunshine Center is just brilliant. I wish my hospital had a similar resource during my training. It is such a creative and perfect intervention to provide a better life for these children. We learned that these children face the highest risk of trafficking, and our city through the Junior League is making a difference.
