Why do I fundraise for the Junior League of Birmingham? The Junior League of Birmingham has been investing in this community since 1922, and serving as President is one of the greatest honors of my life. More than a decade ago, my JLB fundraising journey began as Community Dish Chair, selling frozen casseroles in our Gift Shop. It was definitely not glamorous, but it’s where I first learned something powerful: every single dollar raised matters. A few years later, I went on to chair one of our signature fundraisers, Shop Save & Share, and five years ago, as Fund Development Vice President, I helped launch the Little Black Dress Initiative. Along the way, I have seen firsthand how generosity turns into meaningful resources, support, and lasting impact for our community. At the JLB, we support nonprofit partners across Birmingham and lead our own initiatives, including our Safety and Crisis Intervention programs, such as our Anti-Human Trafficking advocacy and awareness work. Every dollar raised does more than fund a grant or project — it is paired with trained volunteers who go into the community to do the work, often doubling or tripling the impact of every gift. I fundraise because I believe deeply in the mission of the Junior League of Birmingham: developing trained volunteers and investing where our community needs us most. That combination of funding and hands-on leadership is what creates meaningful, lasting impact. I invite you to invest in this work and be part of the impact we are building across Birmingham.

Why do I fundraise for the Junior League of Birmingham? I fundraise because leadership doesn’t happen by accident — it is cultivated, encouraged, and courageously lived out in community. I fundraise because I believe the Junior League has the power to create lasting impact — the kind that changes a child’s trajectory from classroom to boardroom. By connecting trained, passionate volunteers to the communities we serve, we become more than helpers. We become a bridge to lifelong change. A steady hand. A hopeful voice. A reminder that no one walks alone. The Junior League is not just a membership organization — it is a place of belonging. It equips women with the training, confidence, and real-world experience to lead boldly in boardrooms, classrooms, and neighborhoods across Birmingham. It calls women to discover their strengths and use them for something greater than themselves.

Why do I fundraise for the Junior League of Birmingham? I fundraise for the Junior League of Birmingham because our community projects invest in education, health, safety, crisis mitigation, and overcoming poverty. We award grants to nonprofits already doing that critical work, but we don’t stop at writing a check. We pair that financial support with trained Junior League volunteers who multiply impact through hands-on service and strong leadership. It’s not charity. It’s partnership for a better Birmingham.

Why do I fundraise for the Junior League of Birmingham? Without donations generated through its fundraisers, the Junior League of Birmingham cannot make an impact through volunteer action. Each dollar raised is contributed to various nonprofits with the added bonus of a volunteer's time. This model makes us unique in our fundraising and has allowed us to make a difference in building a better Birmingham for over a century.
